At Carma Design Group, we design and draft custom house plans from the first spark of inspiration right through to full working drawings that are ready for permit submission.We make the design and permit application process seamless for you by collaborating directly with other professionals in the industry – like Engineers and Developers – to create a fully-integrated design.

My name is Crystal Southwell. As a barn mom to my two girls, both of whom are competitive equestrian jumpers, we know how to get back up after a kick in the chest and come back stronger. It’s this resilience and tenacity that led me to start Carma Design Group. I’m passionate about lifting women’s voices, daring them to dream, and giving them the tools they need to make it happen. After 10 years in the home building and design industry, honing my eye for design and passion for creating spaces that you can feel most at peace in, Carma Design Group was born.

My goal as your designer and advocate is to create a space for your voice to be heard and your vision to be realized. Whether you have a wild design idea or a tough landscape, I am having the most fun when working closely with you, the client. Ideas are flying, dreams are hatching, and my team and I are flexing our design muscles to make it all happen; harnessing creative lighting-in-a-bottle to bring your wildest, barely-say-it-out-loud dreams into a fully realized home. My name is Norah. I am the senior designer at Carma Design Group.

The fuel to my passion of creating home designs is the idea of creating a space where people will make their lifetime of wonderful memories. The fact that I get to be a part of this wonderful journey and collaborate with clients, builders and trades to create and design a space of their dreams brings me immense joy. I take pride in knowing there are homes on and off Vancouver Island that I was a once a part of creating, sometimes purely from my creative imagination.

As a Native from Haida Gwaii, with a passion for creativity and an ever-growing love for everything related – watercolors, painting, charcoals & drawings, I always strive to be authentic – in my designs and in life.

With more than 12+ years in residential building industry, having worked for the largest residential building firm on the island and owning an interior design firm for 3 years, collaborating and working with Carma Design Group, felt like the best fit!

My goals as a designer at Carma Design Group encompasses the overseeing of design solutions, recommendations and implementation of business protocols, plan reviews and proposals.

Since my collaboration with Crystal, I have never looked back! Our values fit perfectly. Working with integrity, honesty and authenticity is what drives us and we truly live by these values. We are your Dream Team!

My name is Ibrahim, and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and a diploma in Architectural Technologies from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT).

I’m very passionate about sports, especially soccer, but I have a wide range of interests that include jogging, listening to music, watching movies, and reading. I’m currently engrossed in reading this classic novel, ‘ Robinson Crusoe’ by Daniel Defoe.

My love for movies has been a significant source of inspiration for my career in architecture. Iconic structures like the Empire State Building, depicted in King Kong, or Hook and Ladder 8 from Ghostbusters captivated my imagination and drew me into this field! I am particularly fond of residential architecture because it allows for a more personal touch. There’s immense satisfaction in creating living spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also comfortable, sustainable, and cost-effective.
